World Class Industrial Automation

Manufacturing | Technology | Field Services - In the Permian Basin and Beyond

Mission | Vision | Values

Overall, our goal locally is that Horizon Technologies will lead the charge to provide value simply beyond the extraction and processing of hydrocarbons, and provide the products and services which are competitive on the global stage and across many industries. And on a big-picture scale we aim to bring “doing and building real things” back into fashion in this country and stand as an example of the success that true hard work, persistent dedication, morally and ethically sound business practice, and focused execution can bring as we chart a course for our future as a nation.

  • Horizon Technologies began with the vision to build a company based in the Permian Basin that would provide truly world-class manufacturing, technology, and field services in the Industrial Automation discipline. Our founders and leaders spent years in various technical and management roles within the Oil and Gas industry – primarily upstream and midstream operations - focused on building, maintaining, and optimizing the automation, measurement, electrical, and SCADA systems which drive the operations of virtually every mid to large size company in the space.

  • Through our combined experiences in the oil and gas industry we have had the chance to work with many service providers in our field. We saw the many good things that these companies were doing, but also saw plenty of bad things as well. Our roles required us to source many different components and products – instrumentation, electrical and power components, and certainly all different types of Industrial Control Panels. We experienced the same difficulties and frustrations that many of our peers (and now customers) also experienced when working with many providers of these products – and so we identified the need for a company that truly understands the needs of the customer, operates ethically at all times, and most importantly goes the extra mile to help the customer with a long-term vision – to prioritize development of customer relationships and trust over short-term sales and gimmicks.

  • We wanted to build something here in West Texas that would last generations, and be a force not only in the Permian but eventually across the nation and globally. The workforce, infrastructure, and business relationships that have been built in this region over the years are a largely untapped and unexplored resource beyond the booms and busts of the commodity cycle – and we aim to change that. We aim to bring “doing and building real things” back into fashion in this country and stand as an example of the success that true hard work, persistent dedication, morally and ethically sound business practice, and focused execution can bring as we chart a course for our future as a nation.

World Class Technology

Key Manufacturing Technology Partnerships

  • Automating Processes with Specialized Machinery from Rittal North America

The PERFOREX automates the physical modifications enclosure systems and backplates – cutting, drilling, and tapping our panels rapidly and repeatably

The SECAREX cuts Wire Duct and Mounting Rail using predefined measurements sent from Engineering – eliminating damaged ends, bent rails, and incorrectly measured core panel components

The WIRE TERMINAL machine is one of the first deployed in the United States by Rittal, allows us to fabricate wires for the entire panel completely automatically – it even prints text labeling on the wire using a proprietary ink jet technology

  • Engineering with EPLAN Software

Utilizing EPLAN, we can design the entire panel and visualize all components and wiring before it goes to production

The repeatability and modular design afforded by EPLAN allows us to drastically reduce engineering time and errors compared to traditional electrical design software

Customers can see a model of their panel or any panel components before anything is built – and can be assured that their panel will match exactly once it is produced since all designs from EPLAN integrate automatically with Rittal machinery.

  • High Quality Enclosures and Components provided by Rittal North America

Beyond the machines we use in the process, we are proud to offer the high quality panel enclosures and other components manufactured by Rittal. The design and craftsmanship of these parts is second to none, at a highly competitive price

Internal Technology and Process Development

  • Horizon Manufacturing Applications

We use software developed completely internally to drive our manufacturing operations. With the software we can track all stages of our process and visualize the status of each panel and component in production. Additionally, we track quality, efficiency, and other key metrics to continuously improve our performance.

  • Lean Manufacturing

Our process is heavily influenced by Lean Manufacturing principles and the Toyota Manufacturing System – compared to the legacy methods of panel building which depend heavily on the attention and skill of the panel builders, we instead break the process down into various stages which work together through our information systems to create a continuous flow of material through the system and increase the repeatability of tasks. In addition, quality checks can be built into the process and any error states spotted more quickly and corrected more easily.

  • Visibility for Customers

Because we continuously track our products and current process states, we can provide our customers with greater visibility and insight into the current state of their orders. This allows our customers to better align their operations with our output, and it also allows improved communication between our team and the customer to resolve any issues or implement changes quickly.
